The frame has the richly molded appearance associated with Victorian-era gesso/composition ornament over a wood or molded frame, finished in warm gold gilt.

The decoration is arranged symmetrically around the oval, with prominent floral and fruit clusters at the top, bottom, and sides, accented by delicate trailing foliage and beaded borders. The broad inner cove displays a subtle textured pattern, adding depth without overpowering the mirror.

The reverse is particularly useful for dating. It retains an aged paper/cardboard backing with an old wire hanging system. The construction, applied ornament, gilt surface, oval format, and backing are consistent with a late Victorian mirror, approximately 1880–1900. In the absence of a maker's label, I would conservatively list this example as circa 1890.

The frame shows genuine age, including areas of gilt loss, exposed reddish ground, small losses to the applied decoration, surface wear, and deterioration to the rear paper covering. These characteristics contribute to its authentic antique appearance rather than suggesting a modern reproduction.

Item: Oval wall mirror
Period: Late Victorian
Estimated Date: c.1890
Pattern/Motif: Floral, fruit, leaf and garland decoration
Frame Material: Likely wood or molded substrate with applied gesso/composition ornament
Mirror: Glass mirror plate
Border: Molded and beaded inner and outer borders
Decoration: Raised floral and fruit clusters positioned around the perimeter
Hanging Method: Old wire hanger on reverse
Backing: Aged paper/cardboard-type backing

Condition: Good antique decorative condition overall with age-related wear.
