Hobstar Pinwheel Cut Glass Bowl 7 1/2" Sawtooth Rim Antique c.1910
Impressive antique brilliant cut glass bowl featuring an exceptionally dense geometric design and substantial 2-pound-9-ounce weight. The bowl measures approximately 7½ inches across and 3¾ inches high and is covered with elaborate cutting from rim to base.
The decoration combines large swirling pinwheel or fan motifs with hobstar-style rosettes, geometric diamond panels, crosshatched fields, deep miter cuts and smaller starburst elements. A deeply notched sawtooth rim creates a dramatic crown-like profile and produces excellent sparkle when illuminated.
The underside is nearly as extensively decorated as the interior, demonstrating the considerable amount of work that went into the piece. The combination of heavy glass, intricate geometric cutting, sawtooth rim and traditional motifs is characteristic of the American Brilliant Period aesthetic.
