royal-vienna-napoleon-josephine-portrait-plate-pair6-1-4-austria-antique-c-1900
Royal Vienna Napoleon Josephine Portrait Plate Pair6 1/4" Austria Antique c.1900
This striking antique porcelain cabinet plate pair depicts Napoleon Bonaparte and Empress Joséphine, each surrounded by a rich red border with gilt floral decoration, imperial crown and “N” motifs, green geometric panels, and scalloped gilt rims. The undersides carry a small beehive/shield-style mark associated with Vienna-style porcelain decoration; because this mark alone does not securely identify a specific factory, I would sell them as Vienna-style Austrian porcelain rather than Royal Vienna.

The Joséphine plate is in good antique condition with age-related surface wear and some gilt wear. The Napoleon plate has a repaired crack running across the portrait area and extending toward the rim, plus additional age-related wear and gilt loss.
