UCAGCO Red Floral Gold Teacup Saucer Occupied Japan Vintage c1950
Striking vintage UCAGCO China teacup and matching saucer, made in Occupied Japan and dating to approximately c.1950. The set has a bold postwar decorative look, combining a rich ruby-red border, white porcelain reserves, yellow floral motifs, and extensive gold gilt detailing.
The cup features a low footed form with a graceful openwork-style handle accented in gold. Around the exterior are alternating red panels and white cartouche-shaped reserves, each decorated with a small yellow flower and green foliage. The inside rim carries an especially attractive geometric gold border. The matching saucer repeats the same red-and-white paneled treatment with floral medallions, gold scrollwork, and gilt edging.
Items explicitly marked “Occupied Japan” date to the Allied occupation era following World War II, generally 1945–1952, making a working production date of c.1950 appropriate for this set.
