AE Meek Trunk Co Western Studded Leather Tray 36x24x21 Colorado Antique 1910's
AE Meek Trunk Co Western Studded Leather Tray 36x24x21 Colorado Antique 1910's
A.E. Meek & Co. was founded by Arthur Edmond Meek in Denver, Colorado, in 1876. His brothers, Leonard and Rupert, joined the business and they built a factory to produce trunks and valises in 1905. They also operated a retail store at a separate location. The factory became The Atlas Luggage Company in 1932. That company is still in business, now as the Atlas Case Corporation.
Once white leather trim is now patinaed with many studded rivet heads over black leather panels. Edge and corner guards retain some of their original copper finish. Brass LE Meeks badge on front of lid. Decal on inside. Tray is in excellent condition and has been repainted in bright yellow and orange. Bottom is in very good condition with original rollers. No key. Leather handle on one side is partially remaining. No odors. Is solid in build.
Very good condition. Aging on leather. Whole trunk hand scrubbed with murphy's oil soap. Studs and brads have been brushed and all leather and hardware have been treated with a beeswax and orange oil preservative. Just a bit of polish on the mfg badge, but some patina left. Tray was meticulously painted in yellow and orange. Not my color choice, but well done and clean if another color is desired,
