This is a striking absinthe or wine fountain, dating from the 1960's, featuring a translucent hand blown green glass reservoir mounted in an ornate brass grape-vine stand. The hand-formed glass body is topped with its original dark amethyst glass lid, while the base is decorated with sculptural vine leaves and grape clusters, reflecting classic Belle Époque design. A brass spigot stamped “FRANCE” but the glass was made in Italy.. Designed for traditional absinthe service, this fountain would have originally dispensed chilled water slowly over sugar cubes. Today, it remains a highly decorative and collectible bar or display piece.
