Company / Meriden Britannia Co. silverplate covered pitcher featuring ornate Aesthetic Movement engraving, a hinged domed lid, square engraved finial, angular handle, and a figural bear accent mounted at the top of the handle. The body is decorated with Victorian geometric, floral, fan, and shield-style engraving, giving it a strong late 19th-century American silverplate look. The underside is clearly marked Meriden B Company, Made by M.B. Co., Lyman’s Patent June 8, 1858, with additional patent dates including March 3, 1868, June 13, 1868, and Nov. 3, 1868, plus model number 40.
